Weather may have played a part in fatal south Barrie crash Wednesday night

Police continue to investigate crash that claimed the life of an Innisfil man

Barrie Police say a vehicle passing another in poor weather may have contributed to a crash that claimed the life of an Innisfil man.

Emergency crews including police, as well as Barrie Fire and County of Simcoe Paramedics, were called to Mapleview Drive near Welham Road at around 7:45 Wednesday night with reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Investigators say it appears a car was trying to overtake another along Mapleview when it lost control in heavy rain, colliding with an oncoming SUV.
