Weekend trains return to Barrie GO line beginning July 10 with 5 trips each way and a bike coach

Weekend service was halted in January due to ridership drop because of pandemic

If you are searching for signs of a return to normal, there is a light at the end of the train tunnel.

Metrolinx is bringing back weekend and holiday GO train service along the Barrie line beginning July 10. There will be five trips in each direction every Saturday, Sunday and holiday between Allandale Waterfront GO and Union Station.

Existing weekend Barrie bus trips will continue to run as scheduled.

Metrolinx is also piloting a bike coach on some weekend train trips through August 2. Customers can bring their bike and stow it on one of the designated bike coaches. There will be one bike coach on each of these train trips.

  • The northbound 8:53 a.m., 11:53 a.m., 2:53 p.m. and 5:53 p.m. trips from Union Station.
  • The southbound 11:08 a.m., 2:08 p.m., 5:08 p.m. and 8:08 p.m., trips from Allandale Waterfront GO.
  • The northbound 8:53 a.m., 11:53 a.m., 2:53 p.m. and 5:53 p.m. trips from Union Station.
  • The southbound 11:08 a.m., 2:08 p.m., 5:08 p.m. and 8:08 p.m., trips from Allandale Waterfront GO.

A bike coach can fit up to 18 bikes. If you’re taking a bus for your return trip, buses have limited bike rack space.

Metrolinx halted weekend and holiday service on the Barrie GO line in January due to a large drop in ridership because of the pandemic.
