Woman charged after wheel falls off while driving on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte

The woman was northbound when her wheel came off and rolled into oncoming traffic

A woman was charged with operating a vehicle which as unfit to drive after her wheel supposedly came loose and struck another vehicle in the opposing lane.

Orillia OPP were called to Highway 11, near Highway 400, shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The woman was heading northbound when one of her wheels came off her vehicle and rolled into oncoming traffic.

The wheel ended up colliding with another vehicle that was heading southbound. There were no injuries and the driver said that she recently had her winter tires taken off.

The Orillia OPP urges all drivers to ensure that their vehicles are fit for the roads before going out.
