Woman charged with drunk driving after Midland restaurant reports a dine-and-dash

Police say the driver had to be woken up

Reports of a dine-and-dash in Midland resulted in impaired driving charges.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP got a call around 9:30 Wednesday night from a restaurant employee who reported a customer fled the establishment without settling the bill. The employee noted the dine-and-dasher had been drinking prior to their departure in a vehicle.

Officers tracked down the vehicle in Tiny Township, saying not only was the driver found sleeping behind the wheel, but the vehicle had also suffered some damage.

The 37-year-old woman behind the wheel was rousted by police and charged, while her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
