Woman sent to hospital after returning to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Port McNicoll

Vehicle struck a hydro pole before 5am

A woman was taken into police custody after officers say she returned to the scene of a crash.

Minutes before 5:00 Friday morning, Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers were called out to a crash at Seventh Avenue and Talbot Street in Port McNicoll. Police say a vehicle struck a hydro pole and the occupants of the vehicle had run off before officers arrived despite heavy damage to the car.

Late Friday morning, a woman returned to the scene and was taken into custody. She was then taken to Georgian Bay General Hospital for treatment of injuries.

The 35-year-old has since been treated and released. The OPP have charged her with failing to stop at the scene of a crash and dangerous driving.
