Wrong Way Driver Charged In Cookstown
Speeding, Drunk Driving Among Charges Laid
A Scarborough woman will have to return to our stomping grounds for a future court date, after South Simcoe Police tell us they caught her drunkenly driving the wrong way.
The traffic stop happened around 2:00 this morning; police say the 23-year-old was stopped on Highway 89 at 27 in Cookstown, adding that she now faces charges of Dangerous and Impaired Driving, along with Speeding and Stunt Driving.
Police say they first spied a vehicle travelling at high speeds just before 2:30 this morning, saying when they tried to stop the vehicle, it veered into oncoming lanes as it sped off. Officers say the vehicle continued at high speed for over 3km, including driving over two blind hills.
