You’ve got the power… to let the city know what you think about its energy consumption

City surveying residents as part of energy reduction plan consultation process

The City of Barrie wants your two cents’ worth on its plans to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas production.

City staff are in the thick of preparing a new Community Energy and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan and are in the public consultation stage of getting it drawn up. Barrie residents are being urged to get involved.

“This is an opportunity to learn about the community benefits of a new Community Energy and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Plan, participate in the planning process, and share ideas on how we can reduce energy consumption in Barrie,” says Adam McMullin, Manager of Energy Management. “The new Plan will help guide efforts in reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by suggesting ways for residents, businesses, and industries to use energy more efficiently.”

Residents can get involved with the online survey until November 15. After a review of the survey’s results, city staff expect to be able to identify energy reduction targets for the community.
