It's finally here, the first long weekend of the summer! Victoria Day always falls on the penultimate Monday in May and is a distinctly Canadian holiday celebrating the birthday of Queen Victoria. Rain or shine, we have tons of activities for you to make the best out of the unofficial start to summer!

Nottawasaga Inn & Resort

Enjoy a fun-filled getaway at Nottawasaga Inn & Resort with two special Victoria Day weekend deals. First up is the Victoria Day Family Fun Pass which includes swimming, 100ft waterslide, and 4 mini-golf passes for $55.95! Next is the Victoria Day Weekend Passport to Play promotion which gets you two free children's admissions to the pay-as-you-play kid's programs, when you book a one night stay. The pay-as-you-play program includes T-shirt Creation, Birds the Word, Jungle Quest Mini-Golf, Let Them Eat...Cookies, and Family Obstacle Challenge!

Horseshoe Resort

It's the perfect time to visit Horseshoe Resort with their May Long Weekend Getaway. Fill your weekend with activities like Treetop Trekking, Chair lift rides, zip lining, biking, disc golf, and the brand new ninja obstacle course! There is also a free guided cross country bike ride through Copeland Forest at 11 AM on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (bike rentals are available as well). The Horseshoe Day Pass is also down to $20 which includes Mini Putt, Unlimited Chair Lift Rides, Dual Inflatable Obstacle Course, Inflatable Maze, and Ninja Obstacle Course! The only problem you'll have is trying to get everything done before you leave!

Blue Mountain Resort

If you prefer your long weekend fun to come with a $0 price tag, Blue Mountain Resort has 3 days filled with free events for you and your family to enjoy! Guided Hikes, Scavenger Hunts, John Deere Kids Zone, Giant Games, GLOW Groove Dancing with Tyler Boyle, The Amazing Village Race, Interactive Drumming with Bambalamb, and fireworks! There are also movie viewings of Smallfoot and Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, along with live music from Rebecca Rain, Avery Florence, Pat Maloney, Bernadette Connors, and Craig Smith! I'll say it again in case you forgot, all of this is free!

Friday Harbour Resort

The new kid on the block, Friday Harbour Resort is not to be outdone! Events are happening all weekend long including Saturdays classic car shows, airbrush tattoos, Spiderman on the Boardwalk, Campfire at the Pier, and fireworks! Sunday and Monday also have tons of events like Family Relay Races, Batman on the Boardwalk, face painting, and family charades. Along with live music from Chris Chambers, Kelsi Mayne, Jeff Eager, Lisa Hutchinson, Rebecca Rain, and Charlie McKittrick, this will be a very happening place over the long weekend!

Barrie KOA

Get closer to nature and enjoy a night or two under the stars at the Barrie KOA. Pack up your tent and sleeping bag for a weekend of camping along with glow in the dark wagon rides, evening fireworks, and delicious s'more cones all while enjoying the crisp night air over a warm summer fire. If you want to check out another campground there are plenty in Simcoe County including Nicolston Dam RV Park, Heidi's Campground, and the Bee Happy Family Campground.

Toronto Zoo

Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my! The Toronto Zoo is hosting a fantastic event with partner Little Tikes to celebrate turning 50! The Little Tikes World's Biggest Play Date will have Cozy Coupe Races, Hole-in-one Golf, basketball challenges, trampoline performances, cooking demos, and face painting! There will also be a guest appearance from mascot "Geoffrey the Giraffe" along with a $10 card for Toys"R"Us. Don't forget to also check out all the animals from polar bears and wolves to hippos and Rhinos!

Cottage Country Comic-Con

With over 100 Exhibitors, Cottage Country Comic-Con is striving to become the best comic-con! It's all here: comic books, games, movies, wrestling, television, anime, and cosplay. You can catch appearances from Jim Shooter, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Mike DeCarlo, Leonard Kirk, and Alfonso Espinos. Don't forget to bring a camera to take pictures with The Delorean, General Lee, a 1976 Gran Torino, The Mystery Machine, 501st Legion, R2D2 and much more!

May Days

Downtown Barrie is hosting May Days all month long and the long weekend is the perfect time to check it out! Shop, dine and enjoy yourself at a huge number of stores and restaurant downtown and you will receive a ballot for a prize worth over $2500! Long weekend and chance to win free stuff? Canada's Wonderland

If you like to spend your long weekends screaming at the top of your lungs, Canada's Wonderland is a perfect choice! With the completion of the record-breaking "Yukon Striker", Canada's Wonderland now has the Longest, Tallest and Fastest dive coaster in the entire world! Scorching along at speeds of 130 km/h, this coaster is an adrenaline junkies best friend! If it seems a little too daunting for you, don't worry because Cat and Jon went on it for you!
