Four youths, ages 12 to 15, charged with theft at an Orillia business

Business owner reported seeing four people running away

Provincial police brought in the K9 team to track suspects in connection with a theft at a business in Orillia.

Officers received a call around 1 a.m. on Sept. 29 from a Progress Drive business owner who reported attending the business after getting a call from the alarm company and had seen four people running away when they got there.

Police searched the area with assistance from the K9 unit. As a result of the track, four youths were arrested and over $1,000 of merchandise was recovered.

The suspects, ages 12, 13, and two 15-year-olds were charged with break and enter, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The four were released and are to appear in Orillia Youth Court in December.
