"Mukbang" is a genre of videos where people film themselves eating massive amounts of food while conversing with viewers.
However, the self-proclaimed "King of Mukbangs" has recently revealed that he's been on a weight loss journey for the last two years, and no one noticed.
In his recent video, "Two Steps Ahead," Perry shocked fans by showing off his weight loss transformation, saying he's completed "the greatest social experiment of my entire life."
The video has received nearly 30 million views and counting.
Perry revealed that he's been uploading pre-recorded older videos of himself, so no one would know about his health journey.
His revelations have shocked his followers, saying he created a very elaborate ruse.
One commenter explained "The fact he was able to keep this entirely private, with no one in the world telling his secret, while actively creating rumors of heart attacks and failed weight loss is so complex I can't even wrap my head around it."
In an interview with NBC News, he said he shaved his head so people on the streets wouldn't recognize him and edited the online videos to appear more modern.
Perry also says he is an example of why people shouldn't take the internet so seriously.
"While everybody pointed and laughed at me for over-consuming food, I was in total control the entire time. In reality, people are completely absorbed with Internet personalities and obsessively watch their content. That is where a deeper level of over-consumption lies — and it's the parallel I wanted to make."
