A carjacking in Springwater on Wednesday night is being investigated by Huronia West OPP, who are seeking witnesses and any related surveillance footage.

Police say officers responded to the reported incident that occurred on the Highway 400 off-ramp to Simcoe County Road 93 just after 7:30 p.m.

The suspects allegedly forced the victim to stop on the off-ramp and removed him from the vehicle before fleeing the scene in it. A firearm was reportedly observed during the incident, although no injuries were reported.

Investigators determined that three male suspects arrived in a black sedan with two described as being of South Asian appearance, while the third was described as having a darker complexion.

The stolen vehicle is described as a 2023 Red Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 bearing Ontario licence plate CFPC805. If the vehicle is scene seen, police are advising the public to call 911 immediately and do not approach.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have information related to the occurrence is asked to contact police.
