A woman and two young children were passengers in the accused driver's vehicle, according to officers.

Police say the driver showed signs of impairment, including glassy eyes and slow, methodical speech.

CCTV footage showed the vehicle passing other vehicles on Veteran’s Drive before braking abruptly to turn right onto Salem Road.

Police say it collided with a vehicle turning left onto Veteran’s Drive and a third vehicle that was following behind.

No injuries were reported.

A 39-year-old man was taken to police headquarters, where a qualified breath technician confirmed his blood alcohol concentration was nearly twice the legal limit.

He faces charges of impaired operation, impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, and dangerous operation.

His vehicle was impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.
