A fall alert from a woman's pendant prompted an extensive search of a Barrie apartment complex by first responders.
Just before 5:30 Tuesday morning, police say emergency services responded to the alert at a building in the area of Bayfield Street and Sophia Street.
The woman was not in her apartment, and her car was located in its spot in the parking garage.
Police say stairwells and various rooms accessible to tenants were searched, and just over 30 minutes after the initial alert, the woman in her 60s was found in the basement laundry room, where she had been for over five hours.
She was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police credit the use of a fall alert pendant as it was this device that caused emergency services to respond to the initial call.
