Activities you can do in or near Barrie that will get you out of the house (while still staying safe!)

Day or night, there's always plenty to do!

It’s finally time to get outside and enjoy the nice weather and good times that come along with summer in Barrie. While this one might look a little different, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to do around the city this season.

Tangle Creek

There are few things better than playing hooky and spending a day on the greens. Tangle Creek is 18-holes of golfing bliss combining the best characteristics of classic and links-style courses, mixing windswept fairways with heavily forested holes. With all-new touchless golf procedures, Tangle Creek is ensuring everyone is as safe as possible while enjoying the game they love.

Driving Range

If you don’t think your golfing skills are up to snuff, maybe a few hours at the range will help you dial in that swing of yours. There are plenty of driving ranges around Barrie including the Landings of Willow Creek Golf Club, Cedar Link Golf Centre, and Fox Den’s Driving Range that will help you work on your long and short game.

Sunset Drive-In

You might not be able to see the latest movie releases in theatres quite yet but, thankfully, Sunset Drive-In has opened for its 2020 season with lots of fantastic movies. Watch a newer release or check out one of their classic movie nights featuring Grease, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Jurrasic Park, Jaws, and more. Their concession is also open with social-distancing measures in place.

Patio Season

While sitting inside a restaurant might be off the table for a little while longer, patios are finally open and there’s no shortage of cold brews and lovely views to enjoy across the city. Take in the waterfront at Grillicious, hit the rooftop patio at Hooligans, or enjoy the newly finished upgrades to Dunlop street at Flying Monkeys.

Elmvale Jungle Zoo

If you’ve been waiting for a chance to go see some adorable animals, head up north, it’s worth the drive. The Elvale Jungle Zoo has tons of amazing animals to see including tigers, lemurs, zebras, kangaroos, giraffes, and more. They have taken extra safety precautions to ensure safe visits and limit park volume, including a new admission form and timed entrances.

Hardwood Ski & Bike

If you’re the type who gets their fill of relaxing at home, you might be looking for something a little more active to try when you leave the house. Hardwood Ski & Bike has over 100 km of beautiful trails for people of all ages and skill ranges. Rolling trails through lush forests and hardwood combined with challenging single track trails ensure there’s a little something for everyone

Blue Mountain

If you’re looking to escape for a day (or a whole weekend), Blue Mountain is bursting at the seams with stuff to do. Mountain coasters, ziplines, and beautiful trails are just the tip of the spear with tons of shops and bars in the village now open for business with social-distancing measures in place.
