'Life jackets saved the day' when vessel sinks in Georgian Bay

A sinking boat in Georgian Bay, but a group of nine people on board the vessel were rescued by Ontario Provincial Police and the Canadian Coast Guard.

Police said when they arrived, they discovered each person in the group was wearing life jackets, which kept them safe until help arrived.

In a tweet, OPP said "Life jackets saved the day."

They added the 24-foot vessel sank due to mechanical issues, and nobody was injured.

The rescue happened Sunday off the east side of Beausoleil Island by Papoose Bay.
