Little Bart: The big bear with an even bigger career, has passed away

Also known as Bart the Bear 2
Little Bart

Little Bart, who has appeared in a number of Hollywood movies and television shows, passed away on November 14.

Named after the original Bart the Bear (1977-2000), Little Bart was a male Alaskan grizzly bear with quite the story. Shortly after Bart and his sister Honey Bump were born in 2000, their mother was shot and killed in Paxson, Alaska. A State Trooper found them and decided to take care of the two cubs until another couple, Doug and Lynne Seus adopted them a short while later.

Bart is also quite the philanthropist, being an ambassador for the Vital Grounds Foundation which conserves and connect habitat for grizzly bears and other wildlife along with teaming up with communities to prevent conflict between bears and people.

Along with being the star of his own documentary (two of them, actually), he has had quite a career in Hollywood appearing alongside stars like Kevin James and even Matt Damon!

Here's his full list of Movie credits:

  • Dr. Dolittle 2
  • Without a Paddle
  • An Unfinished Life
  • Even Almighty
  • Into the Wild
  • Friends for Life
  • Did You Hear About the Morgans
  • Horse Crazy 2: The Legend of Grizzly Mountain
  • Zookeeper
  • We Bought a Zoo
  • Into the Grizzly Maze

Not only has he had an impressive career on the big screen, Bart has also appeared in several television shows such as CSI and Scrubs. Game of Thrones fans will also remember him as the bear who fought Jamie Lannister and Brienne of Tarth in Season 3, Episode 7!

When you needed a bear for your project, there was only one name that came to mind: Little Bart!
