Adapted from 1975's Monty Python and The Holy Grail, Spamalot is a Tony award-winning musical that is now getting the big-screen treatment.
After years in development hell, Spamalot has finally been acquired by Paramount Pictures and already looks to be very close to completion. After being extensively developed at what was formerly 20th Century Fox, Spamalot already has a written script thanks to Monty Python member Eric Idle and the musical's choreographer already set to sit in the director's chair.
With so much of the project already developed bundled with its Broadway success (not to mention the success of other on-screen musical adaptations like Hamilton), we likely won't see the usual long wait for such a film. No release date has been set yet but expect to see it in late 2021 or early 2022.
