Police investigating drowning death in Gilford

23-year-old Mississauga man pronounced dead on scene

Police investigating the circumstances surrounding a Mississauga man’s death after he drowned at a marina in Gilford.

Shortly before 10:30 Thursday evening, emergency responders were called to a Gilford marina with reports someone was drowning. Police were told a man had been spending time with two friends earlier in the evening and had consumed large quantities of alcohol and narcotics. By the time he went into the water, police say he was highly intoxicated and agitated.

His body was located about three hours later, submerged in the water. The 23-year-old Mississauga man was pronounced dead on scene.
