Things to Do With the Kids Over The Break

Make the best memories with your kids this holiday break by taking part in activities and events happening in the Barrie area. We've put together a list to help kick start some fun outings for the whole family.

Some events require you to sign up or buy tickets ahead of time, so do so ASAP to secure your spot.

1. Circus Show

What: Circus poodle show and white beautiful doves, mini disco, face paint, games, contests and prizes.

Where: Kaleidoscoppe Play Centre

When: December 21st, 5 pm-8 pm

Cost: Kids- $15, Adults- $5

2. Elf on the Big Screen

What: A Christmas classic on the big screen. Popcorn and hot chocolate at concession. Cookie decorating. Costumes encouraged.

Where: Five Points Theatre

When: Decemeber 22nd, 2 pm-4 pm

Cost: Adults- $9.30 +fees, Kids- $4.88 +fees

3. Pancakes and PJ Breakfast

What: Come in pajamas, pancake bar, cocoa facial masks & hand massages and watch a holiday movie.

Where: Glama Gal Tween Spa

When: December 23rd, 10 am-12:30 pm

Cost: $39 per child, $70 per 2 children

4. Walk Local Trails

What: Get outside and explore nearby.

When: Anytime before sundown

5. Zootek Exoctic Animal Show

What: An interactive show featuring exotic animals from around the globe.

Where: Downtown Barrie Public Library

When: December 28th, 2:30 pm-3:30 pm

6. Family Painting

What: Family painting and crafts, all materials provided.

Where: ArtWonderfull

When: Dec 29th & Jan 5th, 12 pm

7. Frozen In Time Ice Festival

What: 25+ lit up ice sculptures of Sports Through The Ages, Battle of the Chainsaws ice carving competition, free skate, autograph signing from NHL Alumni, wagon rides, ice slide, music and shows.

Where: Downtown Collingwood

When: December 28th-30th

Cost: FREE

8. Hometown Hockey Tour

What: 1 of 24 stops for the Rogers Hometown Hockey featuring Ron MacLean and Tara Slone live on location for pre-game, intermission and post-game show of an NHL game.

Spotlight on local culture, hockey history and unique stories of Collingwood. A variety of activities combined with the Frozen in Time Ice Festival.

Where: Downtown Collingwood

When: December 29th-30th

Cost: FREE

9. We Paint For Change

What: A night of crafting to help the Perrin family raise money for their ME to WE trip. Raffles, giveaways and silent auction.

Where: Creative Cafe

When: January 3rd, 4 pm-9 pm

Cost: Variant depending on chosen craft, 20% of proceeds go to the Perrin Family

10. Guided Snowshoe and Chili Cookout

What: Snowshoe through winter wonderland trails followed by homemade chilli, craft beverages, s'mores and more by the campfire.

Where: Snow Valley

When: January 5th, 6 pm-8 pm

11. A Day at Jack's Urban Jungle

What: Zorbing, trampolining, zip-lining, slack-lining, aerial course, leap of faith, obstacle course, cargo net wall and more.

12. Go Ice Skating

What: Public skating for all ages, starting December 15th.

Where: City Hall

When: 7 days a week, 10 am-10 pm (weather permitting)
