
Three Brampton residents face a list of charges after Barrie police responded to a break-in at a business around 4 a.m. Sunday in the area of Ardagh Road and Mapleton Avenue.
Police say officers responded within minutes and saw three people leaving the business and getting into a car. The vehicle then fled, striking a police cruiser, and nearly colliding with two other police cars.
"The vehicle then made its way towards Highway 400, where it began to drive the wrong way on a highway service road, before losing control and crashing into the ditch on the southbound off-ramp," police said in a news release.
The suspects in the car fled on foot and were quickly located and arrested by officers, according to police.
A 37-year-old man was charged with the following:
- Theft over $5,000
- Disguise with Intent
- Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession Break-In Instruments
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
- Several charges related to failure to comply with release and probation orders
A 28-year-old man was charged with the following:
- Theft over $5,000
- Disguise with Intent
- Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession Break-In Instruments
- Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
- Several charges related to failure to comply with release orders
A 25-year-old man was charged with the following:
- Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
- Conspiracy to Commit Indictable Offence
- Disguise with Intent
- Possession Break-In Instruments
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
- Theft over $5,000
- Several charges related to failure to comply with release and probation orders
The 25-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and then released back into the custody of police.
Police say the vehicle the suspects were in was seized, and a quantity of Canadian currency and products believed to be from the business were found inside.
The accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
